Frequently asked questions
Is a booking system worth it for a single lane?
Especially then. With one lane every double booking and every no-show hurts directly, and enquiries arrive in a burst over a few weeks. Online booking with upfront payment takes the phone work off you exactly during that period.
We only rent the lane from November to February. Do we pay all year?
Plans run monthly, so you can move to a smaller one once the season ends. Many operators keep the voucher shop open year-round, because vouchers are bought in summer too.
Can one company group book several lanes?
Yes. A group can book several lanes for the same time slot in one go, for example four lanes for 60 people. The calendar shows you which lanes belong together.
How do deposits and cancellations work for Christmas parties?
You set your cancellation windows per time slot; payment happens online at booking. Cancellations inside the window are refunded automatically, after that your rule applies.
We have a mobile lane without real ice. Does that work?
Yes — the system draws no distinction between natural ice, artificial ice and synthetic lanes. What matters is the number of lanes, the block length and the price, not the surface.

Renting out ice stock lanes: a short window that has to land
Ice stock shooting is one of the few leisure offerings whose annual revenue is earned almost entirely between October and February, with a clear peak in the run-up to Christmas. Bookings rarely come from individuals — they come from companies, clubs, departments and groups of friends, usually ten people or more. An operator reachable only by phone during that window loses enquiries to the one with a booking flow. What a lane costs and who operates one
Mobile synthetic ice stock lanes sell from roughly €2,900 to €3,300 net depending on length, and can alternatively be hired by the day, week or month. A typical lane measures about 16 by 2 metres and needs no power supply, which is why it can be set up on car parks, in beer gardens, on hotel terraces and event spaces. That is why ice stock lanes are no longer run only by ice rinks, but increasingly by restaurants, hotels, event venues, Christmas markets and clubs as a winter offering. For these operators the lane is a side business that cannot justify a dedicated phone desk — the booking has to run by itself.
Group bookings rather than single slots
Unlike a tennis or squash court, an ice stock lane is almost never booked by one person. The norm is a 60 to 120 minute block for a group, often across several lanes at once when a company arrives with 40 or 80 people. Cancellation windows are set per time slot, which in December is the difference between an empty slot and a refilled one.

Extras can be attached directly to the booking: stock hire, an introduction, a mulled wine or catering package. That moves part of the food and drink revenue into the booking itself, where it is predictable, instead of leaving it to chance on the night. Vouchers for lane time run through a dedicated shop and bring in liquidity ahead of the season, since they are typically bought in November and December and redeemed in January.
When to start
Christmas party booking pressure starts six to ten weeks before the date, which means anyone who wants December bookings has to be findable and bookable in September and October. For an ice stock operation that means having lanes, prices and vouchers online by early October at the latest.
